Freedom Land Management is a land clearing and forestry mulching company based in Burns, Tennessee. Josh Tant started it in January 2019, and he still runs the machines himself on nearly every job. When you call, you’re talking to the person who will be standing on your property.

The business opened in January 2019 and grew almost entirely through word of mouth. People bought land in Middle Tennessee, needed it cleared, asked around, and someone gave them Josh’s number. That’s still the core of the work today: taking a piece of property that’s grown over and turning it into something the owner can actually use.
Freedom Land Management is an owner-operated business. Josh handles the estimates, runs the equipment, and manages the job from start to finish. When a project calls for a second set of hands or a second machine, he brings in operators he knows and has worked with before.
He isn’t trying to be the biggest outfit in Middle Tennessee. Staying small is what keeps the quality consistent, and it’s why the answers you get on the phone are direct instead of hedged. If a job isn’t a good fit, you’ll hear that up front rather than after a deposit.
The equipment is set up for the conditions in this part of Tennessee — a skid steer with a forestry mulching head for wooded and brushy ground, plus excavation equipment for site prep, grading, driveways, and pads. Forestry mulching, land clearing, and demolition work don’t require perfectly dry ground, which is part of why the business leans into those services. When the weather turns wet, work keeps moving.
Every property is different. The pricing on a clearing job depends on how thick the growth is, what the terrain does, how much of the material stays on site, and how far the equipment has to travel.
